The Love We Overlook Every Day

February is often called the month of love. When you hear the word love, what comes to mind first?
For many of us, that word can stir emotions, memories, body sensations, and thoughts. You may feel yourself soften, or notice a quiet tenderness, a gentle ache, opening in your heart.
Our culture often tells us that romantic love is the most important kind of love. And yet, we all know love shows up in so many forms. Friendship, family, enduring love, selfless and unconditional love, playful love, self-love, and countless others. Love is what keeps us breathing, steady and alive.
With so much stress surrounding us, it’s easy to believe there’s a shortage of love in the world. But I’m not so sure. Standing in line at Starbucks this morning, I noticed love everywhere; doors being held open, small acts of kindness, shared smiles, simple please and thank you’s.
It doesn’t happen everywhere, all the time…but moments like these remind us that love still exists. And often, LOVE IS SIMPLE.
How have you noticed love lately? Let’s share it, name it, and spread it…we need it now more than ever.
